There's a lot of history behind garlic bread like when it was made, where and why.

Garlic bread started to become popular in the 1940s in a Italian-American restaurants. They originally made it with french or italian bread slices and spread garlic butter on each side.

Now we have many different designs. 

It is said to have gone back all the way to 500BC though i do not know if this is true, it could be. As my source says that soldiers would eat a flat pizza like though and put toppings on it such as garlic
